PIEPS BACKUP
The PIEPS BACKUP is a mini-transmitter (457 kHz) which is worn on the body in addition to your main transceiver. The Pieps Backup Transmitter is only active in emergency situations providing the best possible solution for locating after a secondary avalanche!
The Pieps Backup Transmitter considers it an emergency situation when it cannot detect another sending signal nearby and it cannot detect any movement.
The PIEPS BACKUP can be received by any standards-compliant transceiver!
Active search operations remain unaffected by the PIEPS BACKUP
The PIEPS BACKUP can be used only in combination with an avalanche transceiver (EN300718)!
- PIEPS Backup turns on (ON button) and at the same time gives an audible signal.
- PIEPS Backup is worn on the body and stops the sending(457khz) signal, as soon as a sending transceiver nearby is detected nearby.
- PIEPS Backup does not transmit, if the handler is in motion.
- PIEPS Backup continually monitors the presence of a sending transceiver nearby. When it’s present, Backup doesn’t transmit.
- PIEPS Backup detects an emergency (=”no motion” and “no active transceiver nearby”) and only then does it start to transmit (457 kHz).
- PIEPS Backup signals can be received by every standard avalanche transceiver.
- PIEPS Backup does not influence an active search and rescue process!
- PIEPS Backup can be used only in combination with a regular avalanche transceiver!
